FIRST ADD THESE…

ONE PIXEL BUDS PRO

You’ll need some Bluetooth kit to unlock tunes and audiobooks from the Pixel Watch 2, and it so happens that Google’s own Buds Pro wireless in-ears make for a mighty pairing. Combining a snug fit with competitive battery life and good ANC, not to mention a wireless charging case with three full charges, they come in six colours and sound great. £199 / store.google.com

TWO MIIMALL METAL STRAP

Google’s Metal Links band is a £209 treat if you have the cash to splash. But for anyone after a more thrifty alternative, this Amazon special is an easy way to smarten up your Pixel Watch 2 in a snap. The link system and clasp aren’t quite as refined as Google’s, but it’s available in four colours of low-cost luxury. £16 / amazon.co.uk

THREE JBL CHARGE 5

Connect your watch to a Bluetooth speaker like this one and enjoy room-filling sound controlled from your wrist. In addition to offering up to 20hrs of playback on a charge, JBL’s blaster is a powerbank so it can top up your phone or watch. Note that you’ll need aUSB-A to USB-C adapter to fuel up your Pixel Watch 2 with the supplied charger. £140 / uk.jbl.com

NOW TRY THIS…

1 TOUCH & GO

To stop water from activating your Watch 2’s touchscreen, whether in the shower or pool, be sure to turn on the Touch Lock feature. Swipe down from the main screen, look for the hand/padlock icon, and tap to activate Touch Lock. Now your touchscreen is out of action until you long-press the digital crown for 2secs. This is also a genius way of getting kids to step away from your watch.

2 WATCH & LISTEN

To get your music out of your watch and into your ears, you’ll need to pair it with a Bluetooth audio device. Fire up pairing mode on your headphones or speaker, open your watch’s settings and tap Connectivity, followed by Bluetooth. Scroll to the bottom, tap ‘Pair new device’, find your audio kit, tap it and follow the instructions to unlock apps like Audible, Spotify and YouTube Music.

3 LIVE LONG & PROSPER

The Pixel Watch 2’s battery might struggle to make it through a full day, especially when playing loads of tunes. So dip into the Display settings, where you can turn off sunlight boost, drop the brightness, reduce the timeout time and deactivate that always-on display. Now, in Connectivity settings, turn off Wi-Fi and Mobile Data; and in the Battery settings, turn on Battery Saver.
