Drawing on classic influences, this 21st-century living space exudes a sophisticated feel that will stand the test of time

Having renovated the kitchen in their new build, the owners wanted to transform the dark living space next to it into a breezy family space with a classic East Coast aesthetic, so they enlisted the help of interior designer Jess Weeth.

1GO WITH THE FLOW

The original brief was to rethink a cramped, somewhat dated kitchen. As the living area flows off the kitchen, Jess knew it needed to feel cohesive with the space so decided to continue the same colour palette, keeping it pale with rich accents. ‘Like much of the house, we wanted it to look sophisticated without feeling overly formal,’ explains Jess. ‘We used levels of warm neutrals such as cream, terracotta, cognac leather and mid-tone woods to keep the design grounded.’
