WHAT WAS THE BRIEF?

The client loves an eclectic mix of new and vintage pieces – you could tell from her home and inspiration images that she has really good taste and prefers to have key pieces rather than a cluttered look. We looked to maintain the original features of the property when reworking the house and to ensure the new extension with an open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room was in keeping with the age of the property

HOW INVOLVED WERE THE HOMEOWNERS?

They loved the design process – we went to kitchen showrooms together and they loved attending the interior design meetings to ensure they were happy with the scheme and everything was signed off completely to their satisfaction.

DESCRIBE THE HOMEOWNERS’ STYLE.

We share a very similar design style, which made the whole process and client collaboration a lot easier. We love mixing old and new, and incorporating lots of colours, textures and patterns, while being sympathetic to the period of the property.

WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST PRIORITIES FOR THE HOMEOWNERS?

The clients really wanted to focus on the layouts, making sure they made the most of the new extension and creating as much storage as possible, as well as introducing a separate utility room.

WHAT WAS YOUR MAIN FOCUS?

We needed to fit a lot into a generous but not massive space, so it was crucial to keep an eye on the spatial planning. Also, making sure the walkways were big enough and the furniture and kitchen were ordered in the right sizes so the client had everything they needed, but also in a size that didn’t compromise the flow of the room.
