LIVING AREA

‘The furniture arrangement played a pivotal role in improving the overall functionality of the unusually shaped apartment,’ says Joana.

DINING AREA

As the room narrows at one end, a round pedestal table makes the most of the space. Picking a pendant that’s almost as wide as the table top adds drama.

BALCONY

Green accents link this with the elevated private garden that separates two apartment blocks.

KITCHEN

Hanging a cluster of lights off-centre gives a more visually appealing, eclectic feel than a standard regimented pendant trio.

HOW DID YOU COME TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT?

We designed a home in the Prata R iverside Village development, which led to an invitation to design the show apartment. The complex, by famed architect Renzo Piano, features over 600 apartments.

WHAT WAS YOUR DESIGN BRIEF?

Our primary goal was to emphasise the aesthetic appeal, practicality and versatility of the layout. To achieve this, our approach centred on strategic furniture placement.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?

The unique architecture of the development and its captivating natural surroundings. Our aim was to create a space where residents could feel a profound connection with nature and the outdoors, surrounded by lush greens and the soothing presence of the river.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE OVERALL THEME?

Eclectic. It’s defined by a deliberate fusion of several materials and styles, embodying a unique blend of contrasts that align with our distinct design approach. We integrate the culture, the location and the surroundings into the projects we create. The combination of noble materials with those of humbler origin adds an extra layer of depth and character.

OFFICE

Sculptural pieces, like the egg chair and side table, are a key feature of the interior design of the apartment.
