Photography in Milton Keynes is an enthusiastic and supportive group
When was the club founded?
In June 2019 by Gill Prince.
How many members do you have?
I should probably explain that we’re not a traditional ‘club’, we are a Facebook Group, which I created for people who live and/or work in and around Milton Keynes. As such we have just over 1,500 members. I am the main admin for the group and I have a team of four brilliant moderators who help me run it, to ensure that members get the most from it.
How is your group different from a traditional club?
We don’t have weekly meetings or any of the formal structure of a traditional photography club. My aim was to give local people the ability to make contact with others who love Milton Keynes and also love taking photos – so when there is an amazing sunset, or a Lancaster due to fly over Bletchley Park, for example, we can make others aware, and then share our images afterwards. Our group offers new members a space where they can share their work, and be encouraged, regardless of their current level or abilities. Many are very happy using phones and have no plans to change, while others have started to progress to getting their first cameras, with advice and support from our more experienced members.
We also have a fortnightly ‘theme’ to help inspire people to sh
