ASMART LICENCE SOLUTION?

IT WOULD seem that many anglers are upset about the recently announced demise of the printed rod licence – especially David Miller’s wonderful fish-inspired artwork.

But, really, if the Environment Agency got its act together and did it right, it could still please most of the people without the cost of printing the cards.

The solution is pretty simple – create the artwork and save it as a file that those with a smartphone can save into their wallet app, in much the same way you would with a debit card or an airplane boarding card.

That way, there would still be the visual element, allowing for inspection upon demand.

It can be as beautiful as the printed version without the printing and postage costs – by far the largest part of the Environment Agency’s spend. ?

Is this the way forward for our rod licences
