2023 - 2024 SEASON

HAT-TRICK OF PERSONAL BESTS

GEORGE CORNWELL – 17lb 12oz barbel

MOST anglers are happy if they beat a PB once every few seasons, so imagine how Dorset angler George Cornwell feels after landing this 17lb 12oz barbel – his third PB for this season already!

It was caught from the Hampshire Avon on a boilie hookbait fished alongside a PVA stringer. The bite was the only one of the session, but he wasn’t complaining!

A RIVER BURE BEAST!

PETER SAVORY – 4lb 8oz perch

WHILST the Norfolk Broads are famed for producing big pike, they’re not the only large predators on offer from the region, as 23-year-old Peter Savory proved with this fine 4lb 8oz perch.

It was caught on a short session on a tidal stretch of the River Bure, where he used lure tactics. The fish breaks his previous PB that had stood for five years. In the same session he also added another perch around the 2lb mark.

MEMORABLE THAMES TRIP

MATT EASTON – 3lb 3oz grayling

ANGLERS with big chub in their sights will find few better venues to target than the Thames, and Kent’s Daniel Woolcott underlined the spoils on offer when he landed fish weighing 7lb 9oz and 6lb 13oz.

Boilie tactics were his choice, and he presented a Dynamite Baits ‘The Source’ hookbait alongside a PVA bag of chopped boilies and pellets of the same flavour, soaked in matching liquid.

THE PERFECT BIRTHDAY PRESENT!

DANIEL WOOLCOTT – 7lb 9oz chub

TO MARK his 40th birthday, Brighton angler Matt Easton made the long drive to Scotland to target grayling.

He travelled with a few friends and was rewarded with two new PBs for the species – first a 3lb 1oz fish, which was then followed by this specimen of 3lb 3oz.

Trotted maggots were the winning approach, with Matt presenting two grubs beneath a 6g Avon float.
