At this point, allow me to introduce you to MAP’s two-sectioned 12ft 9ins Dual Distance Feeder rod that can handle casting weights right up to 100g (it’s a bit less in reality) and comes with carbon quivers of 1.5oz, 2oz and 3oz, all with larger-than-normal inner diameter guides for use with shockleaders.
The quality all-carbon blank delivers a reasonably lively progressive fish-playing action, with more than enough forgiveness through its tip-end to make it safe enough for multi-species venues such as Barston Lakes, where I put the rod through its paces.
It handled a 42g Hybrid feeder without any issues whatsoever and could easily have gone up a notch or two weight-wise. It also proved flat spot-free, and the longer 65cm cork and EVA handle was bang on for me, as was the secure hooded reel seat which is well suited to larger sized reels.
