TURNING HEADS: RUBENS, REMBRANDT AND VERMEER

24 February to 26 May 2024

The National Gallery of Ireland has an entire exhibition dedicated to ‘the tronie’ – an old Dutch word for ‘face’ that represented creative experimenting with facial expressions and particular heads – featuring some of the most iconic examples of the genre by Dutch and Flemish artists, including Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt and Johannes Vermeer.

All eyes will be on Dublin, when Turning Heads: Rubens, Rembrandt and Vermeer opens on Saturday, 24 February and runs until Sunday, 26 May. First seen at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp in 2023, this version of the exhibition will include several additional works by the likes of Jan Lievens, Michael Sweerts and Frans Floris.

FROM THERE TO HERE - THE 306 COLLECTIVE

© EMMA DAVIS, 2022

12 to 23 March 2024From There To Here explores the impact of time. On work. On process. On time itself.

For a year, The 306 Collective met monthly to discuss and share their work. Through this process – and the diversity of their individual practices – several common themes emerged: self and identity, the exploration of past and present, the examination of memories, and the power of chance.

From There To Here is an exhibition by five artists that seeks to consider the time they spent meeting and to create a visual and visceral response. Each artist is presenting work that reflects upon the time within each other’s presence, the experience of shared thoughts, and allows for an individual’s artistic process to be combined with a collective’s energy.
