AMERICAN electric-truck maker Rivian has revealed a trio of new models – including a more compact version of its R1 flagship, plus two hatchback crossovers.

The first of the three new cars is the Tesla Model Y-rivalling Rivian R2 (main image, right). Embracing the blocky, futuristic design language used by Rivian’s R1T pick-up and R1S seven-seat SUV, the R2 carries over Rivian’s signature vertical ‘stadium headlight’ design. Inside, the R2 uses materials chosen for their sustainability and durability, with easy-to-clean textiles and surfaces throughout. The car features twin screens, plus two gloveboxes, and the seats fold completely flat to help when carrying bulky loads.

Prices will start from around $45,000 (£35,000) when the car goes on sale in the US in early 2026. And it’s confirmed for UK and European sales from 2027.
