DRIVER POWER REVEALED: The winners and losers in the UK’s biggest consumer automotive survey

Chris Rosamond Chris_Rosamond@autovia.co.uk

WELCOME to the Driver Power 2024 New Car Survey, the latest instalment of the UK’s best known and most anticipated guide to customer satisfaction among real-world buyers in the new-car market.

Based on the opinions of thousands of survey respondents, who have generously taken the time to share personal insights into their car-ownership experience, the Driver Power survey provides a wealth of valuable information for potential buyers of the top 50 cars listed here in our results.

The results cover a wide range of categories and subcategories, so that we can measure and compare owner satisfaction levels for each. The scores are processed with proper statistical weighting applied, with the aim of providing a representative picture of car purchasers’ views across the nation. So read on to find out what owners think of the top 50 Driver Power models this year, and to discover our new champion.

CAST OF THOUSANDS Owners of all sorts of cars from all over the UK have contributed to the findings of the new-car survey. Ratings in 10 separate categories create the score that dictates each car’s overall position

HOW THE RATINGS WORK

After analysing the data, we put it into an easy format for each car in our top 50

A. This number tells you where the car sits in the Driver Power top 50. If your model isn’t listed, look out for our used-car survey in September.

B. Here we tell you when each car went into production, as well as the main things owners commented on when responding to the survey.

C. We have 10 judging categories, and the percentage is the average of a car’s scores. This is its rating, and defines its overall chart position.

D. These bars represent a score in each of our 10 judging categories. The longer the bar, the better the car performed in that particular area.

E. We’ve picked out some interesting comments – some favourable, some less so – from owners of each model.

F. Our judging categories include a rating for Value. A high score in this section shows that a car offers a lot for the price you pay for it.
