WHILE the Scenic has a neat new cabin layout, the technology on board is shared with a variety of other Renaults. The 12-inch portrait touchscreen looks smart, though, and it uses a Google operating system, so it’s just as easy to use as any smartphone. The mapping is quick to load and the online functionality means the system can re-route past traffic jams effectively.

The menu system is simple to use, with shortcut keys at the top of the main display to get you to your desired menu screen, while the climate controls use a mixture of physical toggles beneath the main screen and a shortcut at the base of the touchscreen for more detailed changes. The digital dials offer plenty of information that’s controlled via the steering wheel.

Metallic paint, 20-inch alloy wheels, LED lights all round, panoramic roof with chromatic shade, two-zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, powered tailgate, LED ambient lighting, 360 degree camera system

What we would choose

The are no extras to speak of for this top-spec model. We’d even skip adding metallic paint, because the standard Flame Red looks distinctive enough
