Light damage can result in hefty bill

Pricey repairs lead to high insurance costs

FROM: Bob Matt I READ your recent motoring manifesto with interest and can say that high insurance is a result of inflated repair costs. My two-year-old Porsche Panamera had a very small dent in the rear bumper, and the dealer quoted me £7,200. No wonder insurance costs are so high!

Any interior colour, as long as it’s black

FROM: Michael I FULLY agree with what John Rason (Issue 1,31) says about claustrophobic car interiors. We looked at a large selection of cars, but we were put off due to their dark cabins. This is despite advertising showing lighter interiors, which don’t seem to be an option in the UK.

Will someone stand against luxury VED?

FROM: Bob Jackson EVERYONE appears to be ignoring that the VED ‘luxury car’ threshold of £40K hasn’t moved since it was introduced seven years ago, while new car prices continue to rise. My Ford Kuga is no luxury car, yet it creeps over the threshold; it’s just another unfair form of fiscal drag!

Stop spending public cash to bankroll EVs Kia planting ‘Ceed’ for BMW designers

FROM: Neal Entwistle WITHOUT the generous BiK and salary sacrifice schemes, there would not be an EV market. It’s time public money ceased to fund the few who can use these schemes. We must also remove the fines on the industry for failing to sell pricey cars that we clearly don’t want.
