While Monty keeps us up to date from Longmeadow, the other GW presenters also have a packed schedule ahead. Executive Producer Gary Broadhurst gives an exclusive preview of what’s to come

After a particularly wet and windyautumn and winter, spring finally here – as is Gardeners’ World– which returns to our screens with a brand-new series this month.

The gardening gang are back. Last year Monty announced some bold changes to one section of Longmeadow and, as he explains on the previous pages, blighted box and problematic pears have been taken out and replaced with a selection of late-flowering roses. But there’s much more to be done – throughout the series we’ll be following Monty’s progress and charting the transformation from Cottage Garden to Rose Garden. We’ll also be catching up with Adam and plans for the evolution of his plot.

As well as getting their hands dirty in their own gardens, there’s now a tradition of GW presenters making an impact at flower shows, including most recently Carol, Frances and Sue. This year is no different. In June, Adam will be sharing his love of growing and cooking when he headlines at BBC Gardeners’ World Live at the NEC. ‘The Chef’s Table’ will feature a rustic outdoor cooking/dining area, surrounded by edibles growing in a naturalised setting and inspiring visitors with how they can grow edibles in their own gardens. Hot on his heels in July, Arit will be heading to RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival where she’ll be designing the RHS Feature Garden, which will focus firmly on peat-free gardening.

All the much-loved presenters will be back, accompanied by a few new faces. Over the course of the year they’ll be sharing the very best horticultural advice, meeting growers and gardeners with a passion for plants and visiting some of the most incredible and inspiring gardens around the UK.
