“A great day out to Holker Hallin Cumbria, which helped to fuel inspiration for my responsible slow fashion brand’s colour palette. Gorgeous walled gardens, cafe and farm shop, and great accessibility and parking. I explored the gardens, which are well maintained and managed, and viewed the house in the same trip!” – Leila holker.co.uk

“The highlight from our visits to Logan Botanic Garden near Stranraer is always the conservatory. It’s filled with a huge variety of pelargoniums, succulents, protea and more.

There’s always something interesting and unusual, and, being a botanic garden, 99 per cent of the time they’ve all got their names on them.” – Helen rbge.org.uk/logan

The 2 for 1 Gardens entry scheme is the biggest garden visiting scheme in the UK and our May issue will mark its 30th anniversary. We asked you to provide photos and memories from some of your favourite garden days out using the 2 for 1 discount – and didn’t you deliver!

Shown below are two truly lovely scenes from respondent Deborah’s trip to Beth Chatto’s Plants and Gardens in Essex, back in October. It is proof that garden visits can surprise you with beauty and inspiration at any time of year.

“My husband and I visited

Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, near Weymouth, during the hot spell back in June, which made the colours of the plants so much brighter. Crossing the rope bridge, which was a bit scary, we walked on the path to the jungle area, before stumbling across a prehistoric pond! Other highlights included the viewing point, with its view of Chesil Beach. Walking through a different part of the garden you can also see St Catherine’s Chapel through the trees, standing alone on a hillside. We enjoyed a lovely cream tea, courtesy of my dear lovely mum, who is sadly no longer with us, but I made sure to tell her all about our wonderful day out to Abbotsbury…” – Mel abbotsburygardens.co.uk
