PICK OF THE MONTH

The Poltimore Inn runs themed monthly stargazing sessions in its own observatory

Public stargazing evening: On board the ISS

Poltimore Inn Observatory, North Molton, Devon, 18 May, 6pm

Located under enviably dark Exmoor skies, North Molton’s Poltimore Inn has a feature not many pubs can boast: its own purpose-built observatory! Space Detectives hosts a public stargazing evening there each month, with a chance to peer through the observatory’s high-end telescopes or, in bad weather, take a guided virtual reality tour of the night sky. Each month’s session has a different theme, and this month it’s a chance to look at life on board the International Space Station. Tickets cost £35 for adults and £25 for children; food and accommodation (not included) are available at the Inn if required.
