‘Love is always worth celebrating’

No

I love celebrating Cupid’s big day! It was my first Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend last year, and we both agreed early in our relationship that we wanted to make a point of it and celebrate it.

To me, it’s a special day. It’s about celebrating love and love is always worth celebrating. After exchanging cards and presents, we went out for a meal in a fancy restaurant. It was a lovely way of treating ourselves and doing something special.

Yes, I love and show appreciation for my partner the other 364 days a year, but life gets so busy. V-Day is the perfect reminder to stop and plan something fun with your loved one, and show them how much you love them.

Relationships take work, so I’ll never feel cringe about celebrating a day dedicated to love! Of course there is a commercial side to it, but we shouldn’t forget the essence of the day – to take some time to invest in our relationships and do things that make us happy.

And who says 14 February is just for couples? Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity to love yourself, too, as well as being an excuse to do nice things for the people we love and celebrate some amazing friendships.

My boyfriend and I are looking forward to celebrating again this year. Regardless of your marital status, Valentine’s Day gives us all a few extra reasons to spread happiness and smiles.
