Dermot O’Leary has sat down with Take That for their most insightful interview yet

The members of Take That have been part of our lives since 1990 and now Dermot O’Leary, 50, is sitting down for a proper chat with them in Reel Stories. Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald have opened up as never before and we are treated to some amazing footage of the band throughout the decades. We found out more from Dermot.

How was it to catch up with Take That again?

It was so lovely. I know them all pretty well now, Gary especially from The X Factor days, but I’ve never really had the opportunity to interview them like we did for this. There’s just such an incredible arc to explore from their early days and being the biggest boy band in the UK, to Robbie leaving, the wilderness years and going solo, then the Greatest Hits album which lead to the documentary and reunion tour. And to now have them back with some of their best music to date is extraordinary.

We always make a point of recording for two hours straight with Reel Stories, from the minute we walk into the room to the minute we leave. We were cutting it quite tight on time towards the end and Gary said, “No, let’s carry on,” and so we ended up chatting for longer.

Did they feel more comfortable because of that past connection?

I hope so. I think it’s partly because we’re friends; I really enjoy their company and am a big fan of theirs. But also, I’m not a real parable of hard work, learning interested in a clickbait interview to get their trade and putting in the graft. a story off the back of something.
