Why the Loose Women star is hesitant to walk up the aisle for the third time
Coleen Nolan has revealed she has had therapy after splitting with her boyfriend Michael Jones three times. The Loose Women star, 58, went public with the 49 year old last year. They met on Tinder in 2021 but broke up in 2022 before reconciling.
Having recently lived together in a “tester situation”, Coleen and Michael, a supermarket logistics worker, are now preparing to take their relationship to the next level and move into a new home together. And there’s even talk of marriage, although Col is keen to dampen any excitement over wedding bells at the moment.
“I might get engaged but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m going to walk down the aisle,” she revealed. “I know Michael would like to marry me and, to be fair to him, it’s probably from insecurity because I’ve finished with him three times since I met him.” She explained, “It was all my issues, because of what I’d gone through, so I was pushing him away, thinking I couldn’t deal with it. I’ve had therapy, I’ve sorted my life out, and I’m very open to everything he’s providing me emotionally, and it’s fantastic. So let’s not try to fix something that isn’t broken.”
Having been married twice before, to actor Shane Richie and guitarist Ray Fensome, it’s no surprise that Coleen has cold feet about a third wedding. Her nine-year marriage to ex-EastEnders star Shane, 59, ended in 1999 over his cheating and lying ways. They share sons Shane, 35, and Jake, 31. “I kept making excuses, I kept thinking it was me,” she said. “I was just turning into this person that I’ve never been before. I was checking receipts, phone bills… It was all true and I should have listened to my instincts at the beginning but your heart doesn’t want to.” Shane wrote in his 2003 autobiography Rags To Riches, “I was lying so much that I couldn’t remember which story I’d told to each of them. And I’d lie to cover up the lies.” Coleen admitted that the relationship made her insecure. “I’m in a much happier place now than when I was married to Shane – I don’t have to worry about what he gets up to any more. You forgive something like that but you don’t ever forget,” she said.
Her second marriage to 61-year-old musician Ray, with whom she shares daughter Ciara, 23, lasted ten years before they split in 2018. They remain close as he’ll be joining her on tour. “There is too much dividing me and Ray.
