Prince says he still has ‘love’ for royal family despite feud

When Prince Harry rushed across the Atlantic to see his father King Charles following his cancer diagnosis, royal fans hoped that reconciliation could be on the cards between the pair. Now, opening up in a shock new interview about “reunifying” with the King, it’s clear Harry still has “love” for his family and may be ready to put their former feud behind him.

Speaking about his return to the UK, Harry told Good Morning America in an interview from Canada that things were not as bleak between him and King Charles, 75, and that there was scope for them to make up.

Revealing he had “jumped on a plane” as early as he could, Harry, 39, said, “Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”

Harry – who was visiting Canada with wife Meghan Markle – was then asked if Charles’ diagnosis could have a “galvanising or reunifying effect” for him and the royal family. “Yeah, I’m sure,” he replied. “Throughout all these families I see it on a day-to-day basis, the strength of the family unit coming together... I think any illness, any sickness brings families together.”

He did, however, refuse to discuss his father’s condition, saying “that stays between me and him”. While Buckingham Palace has not disclosed the nature of Charles’ cancer – besides saying that it is not prostate cancer – it said the King was “remaining wholly positive about his treatment”. On GMA, Harry was asked how he was handling the news of his father’s illness from the other side of the world. “I have my own family, as we all do, right?”
