The Loose Women star tells Bella why she has a new spring in her step
In the midst of her first live tour in 15 years, Coleen Nolan is certainly in the mood for dancing. Her first ever solo show Coleen Nolan Naked 2024 got her year off to a flying start and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. After revealing they’d split briefly a number of times during their now almost three-year relationship, her partner Michael Jones has moved in to her home, she’s rediscovered her love of performing and she’s finally kicked her 40-year smoking habit. Coleen, 58, is living in the moment. She chats to Bella about putting her health first, wedding bells and why being on stage with her family always feels like home.
Congratulations on the tour. How’s it going?
The tour is absolutely brilliant. I’m loving every single second of it. I go out at night and those audiences, as cheesy as it sounds, I feel so humble when they’re cheering and smiling. Then they’re up dancing and I have the best couple of hours of my life!
What’s it like working with your son, Shane? Are you both enjoying it?
Oh my god, we’re having the best time. He goes out and sings in the first half as my support act and he absolutely smashes it, so I’m in the dressing room going, “Come off now because I need to follow that and they’re already up dancing!” Coming out afterwards I always sign autographs and stuff, and everyone says, “Oh Shane was brilliant.” It’s just so much fun because I was so scared, but it’s nice to have everyone I know there.
It sounds like a big family affair…
Yes! I’ve got Shane supporting me, Jake my other son directed it, I’ve got my ex-husband [Ray Fensome] on guitar, I’ve got my new partner [Michael] selling the merchandise and I’ve known most of the band since they were kids. It’s like a big family going out really. It’s been fabulous.
It must be fun having Michael selling the merch. How are things going with him?
It’s going brilliantly. We were just saying last night, because we were gigging, how much we’re going to miss it. It’s been fabulous and having him there with me has been amazing. He’s never done that kind of thing before but he’s crazy about music and he goes to so many concerts, so he’s loving it. He’s taken to it very naturally. I’m really, really happy.
Do you think you’d ever consider getting married again?
Do you know what, before I met him and after my second divorce, I said absolutely 100 per cent no way. I was always open to meeting someone because I love having someone there, but it was like, “No, I’ll never get married and I’ll only want to see someone twice a
