The Duchess of Sussex is hurt over the royals’ ‘double standards’
She may have been all smiles as she supported her husband Prince Harry at the polo earlier this month, but behind closed doors, Meghan Markle is said to be harbouring a secret upset. The Duchess of Sussex is thought to be fuming at the royal family’s double standards as they appear to have welcomed Prince Andrew back into their circle, while she continues to remain an outcast.
“Meghan is finding it very difficult to understand how Andrew has managed to return to the royal fold,” a source tells Bella. “The fact that he’s getting invites to gatherings and has wormed his way back into the inner circle of The Firm, after all the sleaze and chaos that he’s been associated with, is infuriating. Andrew, 64, was seen joining the other royals and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at the annual Easter service at Windsor Castle last month and at a service honouring King Constantine II of Greece in Windsor in February. This surprising decision to allow him to appear in public as a senior royal would have been made by his brother, King Charles. His return came as Charles and Kate Middleton continue to take time out of the spotlight to recover from their cancer battles, with their partners Queen Camilla and Prince William also cutting down on engagements to spend more time with them.
Once the late Queen’s favourite son, the Duke of York was ostracised, forced to retire from public duties and stripped of his military titles and patronages in 2022 after he was named in a civil lawsuit by Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault – claims he strongly denied. His links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein also tarnished his royal reputation.
