As an insider says their divorce ‘could get nasty’
Following the shocking news that Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were splitting after 27 years together, an insider has since revealed that Eamonn has been leaning on a female friend for support through his heartache.
Ruth is said to be extending her break from TV work and a source tells Bella that the 64 year old has been left “devastated by the entire thing.”
Reports have surfaced that Eamonn, 64, has been supported in his marriage split by a blonde divorcee in her 40s. It’s said the pair have become friends after the mystery woman – who works as a relationship counsellor – connected with Eamonn on social media several years ago. While Ruth and Eamonn’s separation has only recently been made public, it’s been reported they split a while ago.
Eamonn and his companion are believed to have been on multiple outings together recently, with him also reportedly treating her to a Beyoncé concert, a Center Parcs visit, and tickets to see his beloved Manchester United.
There is no suggestion that he and this woman are anything other than friends. While she hasn’t commented publicly, a source tells Bella that Ruth is naturally hurt by the news that Eamonn has a female confidante.
They say, “Ruth is in total shock about this woman in Eamonn’s life. Since it emerged, it’s brought a big divide in the family.”
The duo, who previously presented This Morning together, share son Jack, 21. Eamonn also has Declan, 35, Rebecca, 33, and Niall, 31, from his first marriage to ex-wife Gabrielle Holmes. The source reveals that the couple’s blended family is also finding the news difficult to digest.
“Eamonn’s kids are very close to Ruth, so they feel torn. She’s been caring for him a long time, so this is a bitter pill to swallow.”
Last week, Eamonn opened up on his GB News breakfast show about his shock split, thanking fans for supporting him and Ruth. Ruth, meanwhile, is said to be extending her break from ITV’s Loose Women – although she put on a brave face to promote her fashion range on QVC, notably still wearing her wedding ring.
The couple haven’t appeared in each other’s Instagram photos since July 2022, with Ruth spending the past few years nursing her husband back to health.
