Funny man Michael McIntyre returns to Saturday nights for the third series of The Wheel, the series he not only hosts but came up with the idea for – in the bath (naturally!).

As he explains: ‘A human roulette wheel was my first thought. It’s obviously something that’s been used many times in game shows. I just thought of putting people on the end of it’.

‘It looks insane. I mean, it looks like nothing you’ve ever seen before,’ he said, revealing that he ‘based the chairs on the Jedi Council’ from Star Wars.

The celebrities helping contestants spin their Stacey Dooley shares her DIY expertise this series way to a fortune this series include Anton Du Beke, Alison Hammond, James Martin, Rustie Lee, Dermot O’Leary, Sarah Millican and many more.

The new series has an array of wonderful celebrity experts and categories including: Bill Bailey on Elves, Josh Widdicombe on Neighbours, Stacey Dooley on DIY, Emma Barnett on Women, Alexander Armstrong on Classical Music and Joel Dommett on Michael McIntyre! I know what it’s like when it gets dark early in the Winter on a Saturday night and you want to get cosy in front of the telly and watch something good as soon as possible.

On cheering us up

The Wheel is my very small role to play in this really, really tough time that everyone’s going through. It’s just to distract you for a little bit of time. I’m trying to make very silly, fun, escapism television just for an hour.

On the celebrity’s chosen subjects

Some of the celebrity experts have quite obvious specialist categories like Iain Stirling on Love Island, and then there’s Dermot O’Leary! Dermot has finished top of the leader board on both of his previous appearances, so it seems as if his expertise is wide ranging! On the first series of the show his category was World War II, on the second it was Jaws and now fish. So technical
