After being hailed daytime TV’s new darling, Sian Welby’s star is definitely on the rise – and she’s come a long way since working in retail

Ever since Holly Willoughby quit ThisMorninglast October, ITV bosses have been searching for a suitable replacement.

But after established stars like Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson and Cat Deeley stepped in to keep the sofa warm, another – rather surprising – frontrunner has emerged.

Last week, Capital radio DJ Sian Welby – who previously fronted some showbiz segments – hosted the channel’s flagship show alongside Dermot O’Leary. And it didn’t take long for the bubbly 37-year-old to win over This Morning’s diehard viewers.

Fans and critics alike labelled her a breath of fresh air and praised her for ‘bringing fun’ to the format.

Speaking about the rising star, one viewer wrote on social media, ‘I’ve only watched Sian Welby on This Morning for a short time and already think they should sign her up as permanent.’ Another added, ‘Could listen to Sian all day – doing a fab job!’

Meanwhile, Capital radio fans said they knew Sian would be able to fill Holly’s shoes, saying that she’s a complete natural and that she deserved it 1
