As the death of husband Derek Draper has left Kate Garraway in a ‘bubble of grief’ her friends and family are rallying around

It’s been less than a month since Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper tragically passed away aged just 56 following complications from Covid.

As the 56-year-old faces her new chapter – as well as navigating her two children, Darcey, 17, and Billy, 14, through the overwhelming loss of a parent – Kate is said to be understandably ‘devastated’ and ‘broken.’

Kate’s long-standing rock – her co-host Ben Shephard – has shared how he has been in regular contact with Kate.

Ben, 49, told Good Morning Britain viewers, ‘She said to me the clocks stopped for us just before Christmas when Derek had that heart attack. She said she is sort of in a strange bubble of her own numbness of grief at the moment. Her, Billy and Darcey are hunkering down together.

Now Kate, who was married to Derek for 18 years, is leaning on her loved ones to help her through the upcoming tough months – and beyond.
