My friend is on holiday, to be honest, she’s always on holiday, but this one is really getting on my nerves, because she’s pulled off the impossible. She’s managed to get away in February, somewhere hot enough to keep the balcony doors open all night, with a sea view. Excuse me, while I silently scream for several hours. She’s ticked off every single box on her holiday wish list, and it hasn’t even clouded over once.
I find booking holidays so traumatic, that we rarely manage to go anywhere, and it’s got worse since lockdown, I’ve completely lost my holiday nerve.
The last two holidays only happened because we were invited on them. Once as guests on a fabulous Flavours painting holiday and once by mates with access to a big gîte in France.
For the painting holiday, we just had to pack our paints and everything else was completely taken care of, for the French trip we had to book flights, but our mates picked us up at the airport.
My partner Geof and I have become like big snivelling babies when it comes to travel, ideally, we’d like to hand our wish list over to someone who knows what they’re doing and sit back until they’ve found us the ideal break.
