She captured our hearts on TheX Factorwith a sweet voice and disarming charm, but since then Stacey Solomon has become a real ‘Jill of all trades’. The 34-year-old mum has branched out from singing for Simon Cowell and gone on to carve out a career as a presenter. First, she joined the LooseWomen panel, then – thanks to her love of interiors and DIY – she landed her own BBC home series, Sort YourLifeOut. Now, she’s taken her love of interiors one step further, being named as Dulux paint’s brand ambassador. It’s a natural fit for the homemad mum, who admits she is happiest at her ‘Pickle Cottage’ with hubby Joe, his son Harry, 16, her sons, Zach, 15, and Leighton, 11, from previous relationships, and their kids, Rex, four, Rose, two, and one-year-old Belle. Here, the star exclusively tells bestabout family time, fitness – and painting the town pink....

Hi Stacey. You’re a mum, wife, TV presenter, singer and now interiors guru. How do you fit it all in?!

I’m a high-energy person. I think sometimes I’ve got more energy than I should have for fulfilling the amount of tasks I have to do in a day. But I feel like you drag it up from somewhere. You get up and think: ‘I’ve got to find that energy, go and do it and finish it’. And you look forward to the days when you don’t have that much to do on the ‘to do’ list.

How many ‘not much to do’ days are there…?

Not many when you’ve got kids! This is the time of life where you power through every single second of each waking day. You’ve just got to suck it up! Joe and I share the childcare – when I’m working he’s at home and when he’s working, I am. But there are rare occasions. My two elder boys go to their dads’ every other weekend and my dad’s an amazing grandad. Sometimes, he’ll take all the kids out for the day. Those days are the ones when I can reset and build up some energy. I couldn’t do what I do without ‘the village’, though.

‘The village?’

That’s what Joe’s and my families are like – a full village. I have a huge family – I’m one of seven kids and my mum and dad are incredible. And Joe comes from a family who are really helpful, too. Neither of us could do what we do and take the opportunities we’ve been able to without the help and support of our families. So that’s how I do it – I have the privilege of help in the form of family, friends. I also have the privilege of less financial worries because of my job. So, all of that is on my
