He sent shivers down a million spines, as the psychopathic Tommy Lee Royce in smash hit HappyValley. But in real life, actor James Norton is said to be one of the nicest guys you could meet – and something of a heartthrob, too.
So fans may be interested to hear that James, 38, is said to be single again following the break up of his engagement to actress Imogen Poots.
The 28 Weeks Later star 34, and James met in 2017 when they both appeared in a television adaptation of Russian classic War and Peace.
However, the last time they were seen in public together was at the first night of play A Little Life, in London last March.
Imogen was noticably absent from his side at the premiere of the Bob Marley biopic One Love last month, and, tellingly, the couple have now unfollowed one another on social media.
The pair, who shared a home in East London, are rumoured to have split before Christmas.
Who knows what led to their separation but one thing is sure – with both enjoying flourishing acting careers – they were pulled in different directions.
In 2020, Imogen said: ‘I have never known anything to fall apart due to distance’ adding jokingly, ‘Sharing a bathroom, however, is quite another matter.’
