They’re never far from the headlines, but in recent months the Royals have been under the glare of the spotlight more intensely than ever.
The shock news of the Princess of Wales undergoing abdominal surgery, and King Charles’ revelation that he is being treated for an undisclosed cancer, reminds the world that no one can take their health for granted.
Although it’s not been revealed why Kate underwent a ‘planned’ operation, it is known that she’s not expected to return to Royal duties until after Easter. It is also a known medical fact that major surgery can leave the abdominal walls needing up to two years to fully recover.
Kate has been at home in Windsor and there was welcome news when we learned that she was well enough to visit Sandringham, where she and William are believed to have spent the half-term break with their children George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, five.
While they were in Norfolk, it is highly likely that they would have spent time with King Charles and Queen Camilla, which is where the king is based as he undergoes treatment – travelling to London via helicopter for any planned medical appointments.
