Lorraine Kelly has hit back at a social media account tracking her absences from her ITV daytime show – revealing a personal reason for being off screen.
The account on X called @LorraineKWatch has been keeping a record of her time away from her job, totting up the number of times she was not on her show.
When asked about it in a radio interview, the Scottish star, 64, revealed that she’s been taking time off to spend time with her elderly mother, who has kidney disease.
‘You should never comment on things like that if you don’t know what’s really going on in people’s lives,’ she said.
‘It’s fine, I don’t mind, I don’t care. I probably would have cared before, but I really don’t now. But I am having to take quite a few Fridays off,because my mum’s really not well.’
Lorraine, who shares daughter Rosie, 29, with husband Steve Smith splits her time between her home in Buckinghamshire and East Kilbride in Scotland, where her mother lives.
‘I can go home [to Scotland] now, and spend some more time with her, and help her a bit more than I’ve been able to. That’s happening just now,’ she told the radio host.
Last year, Anne was admitted to hospital twice and Lorraine revealed she had been diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome, a kidney condition.
