At the start of this year, TV presenter Alison Hammond was over the moon when she revealed that she is the new host of ITV show For the Love of Dogs.

Alison will be fronting the much-loved series when it returns, following the sad passing of its long-running presenter Paul O’Grady last March. While the 49-year-old star said she knows she ‘can never replace the iconic Paul’, Alison revealed it was her ‘absolute privilege’ to give it her all.

However, fans of the show are now calling for another famous face to help animals from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home find their new owners – Eamonn Holmes.

Eamonn, 64, recently posted a photo of a dog from Dog’s Trust, the charity of which he is a patron. The GB News host then went on to tell his social media followers that it ‘might be a good day to bring a little man like this home’.

Eamonn – who has his own beloved pet pooch, Maggie, a collie cross he and wife Ruth Langsford adopted in 2011 – also urged animal lovers to ‘give a dog a home’.

And it didn’t take long for the comments to come flooding in.
