Vanessa Feltz talks – in her usual effervescent way - to Ed-in-Chief Siobhan Wykes about Easter, her new top job as a model and her not-so-secret similarities to her dad – aka ‘Norman the Knicker King’…
Vanessa Feltz arrives at the photoshoot and jumps in the make-up chair, brimming with energy. ‘Come and talk to me,’ she shouts excitedly. The TalkTV presenter is about to model her new range of clothes at 4LOVE.UK VANESSA.
‘No one thinks it is more hilarious than me! I do have a sense of humour.’ she laughs. ‘I don’t want any best reader to think that I think I am any kind of model, because I do not. I’m not a poster girl. That’s not how I feel! I’m 5ft 2 1/4 ins. I’ve been all kinds of weights. I was 62 in February. I am so not Kate Moss. If you had said to me at any point on my career: “Vanessa, you are going to model,” I would have said “You are absolutely insane” – but, the point is, the dresses look great on most women!’ They are also selling like hot cakes… She smiles wryly when I mention this fact.
‘That makes it one in the eye for everyone – mostly male critics – who have said over the years, “Vanessa Feltz has the perfect face for radio.” Now they can just do one… I’m busy working up a storm on a range of dresses that are selling out!’
She claps her hands in glee. Like many from North West London, Vanessa comes from a family that was in the garment business.
