The Queen proved to be a model monarch at a recent event…

Queen Camilla was tickled pink recently when she was presented with a Barbie version of herself – she reckoned the doll looked decades younger than her 76 years!

The Queen was presented with the Barbie during an event celebrating women’s rights at Buckingham Palace. The special model was even dressed in an exact replica of the outfit Camilla was wearing that day, a black cape and blue dress, down to the earrings, bracelet, rings and even a tiny brooch. But Camilla was most impressed by her youthful looks.

‘You’ve taken about 50 years off my life – we should all have a Barbie,’ Camilla reckoned as she was presented with her miniature version. The doll was created by Barbie manufacturer Mattel in recognition of the Queen’s work supporting the Women Of The World Foundation, also known as WOW, which was marking the end of its Girl’s Festival Bus Tour. The tour saw the organisation take workshops and activities to young people in their communities and made its final stop at the Palace. The Queen thanked the foundation, saying, ‘I’m very, very grateful.’

At the event, the Queen also introduced the assembled guests to a curio from the Palace archives, two stones which were thrown through the Palace windows by suffragettes back in 1914, to illustrate her speech on the advancement of women’s rights.
