Bit of an unusual week this one… I’m still promoting Not That I’m Bitter (I know, I know – I told you all about that last week) but this week it is slightly different, I find myself in various book shops being interviewed with a nice cup of tea – or, even better, a glass of wine. I’ve been on a few TV shows, too. I was bracing myself for a 6am start on BBC

Breakfast, and had packed my concealer to do extreme de-puffing – but mercifully I was allowed to appear at a more civilised hour: 8.50am. Positively the afternoon!

I took a train from London to Manchester and stayed in a hotel to make sure I got my beauty sleep. On arrival, I inserted my hotel card into the lift and pressed a button for what I thought was my floor. The next thing I knew, a man was speaking to me through a vent in the wall to ask if I was all right.

I said I was and got my readers on to peer at the grid of floor numbers, and I realised I’d pressed a button shaped like a bell, only to be used in the case of an emergency. Oh dear!

At least the train journey back gave me time to catch up on more Married At First Sight Australia, where all the restaurants, apartments and clothing just seem to be slightly lusher than the more, shall we say, modest UK version.
