Ruth Langsford shares her ongoing concern over a split with presenter hubby Eamonn Holmes - and we hear her!
They’ve been together nearly 30 years and have always appeared to be one of showbiz’s strongest couples.
Yet, Loose Women favourite Ruth Langsford, 64, has voiced the fear that haunts her – the prospect of husband Eamonn Holmes leaving her.
And it isn’t, as you might expect, being cast aside for a younger woman…
‘I could do the whole cliché thing: “Oh, Eamonn is such a cliché, he’s going with a 25-year-old, how sad”,’ said the presenter.
Instead, the cruellest blow would be if TV veteran Eamonn, also 64, who’s she been nursing through major health issues over the past few years, left for someone her own age. Ruth shared the devastating scenario with Loose Women colleagues saying, ‘Oh people go, “Oh, you’d hate it if you were dumped for a younger woman”.’
But the former Strictly contestant revealed that would be easier to accept than the alternative…
‘The worst thing for me is if he went off with someone the same age,’ admitted Ruth, who dated her Belfast-born beau for more than a decade before tying the knot in 2010, eight years after welcoming their son Jack.
And she swears that staying together takes a lot more than passion as you age.
‘Love, lust and everything is wonderful at the start of a relationship,’ claimed Ruth in a 2022 interview. ‘But you’ve got to have that connection as friends where you feel comfortable with each other.’
