Garden Rescue’s most popular star opened up about the reason she has never let the cameras into her own backyard...

As part of the team of green-fingered experts on BBC series Garden Rescue, you might think that flame-haired Charlie Dimmock would be the first to want to show off her own garden to anyone who wanted to see it.

But Charlie, who has been on our screens for the best part of 25 years, has revealed she would hate allowing people into her outside home space at times for good reason.

‘Firstly, I have to say my garden isn’t always in tip-top condition!’ the 57-year-old fiercely private star has previously explained about her property in the New Forest, Hampshire – the place she also grew up. ‘Unfortunately, I tend to be away working at the more critical busy times, so I often get behind.’

Because TV work takes her away from home to help others transform their gardens on a budget, it means hers has become somewhat neglected as she doesn’t have time to maintain it – so there’s no chance cameras will be capturing it any time soon. ‘With all gardens, it’s best to do maintenance frequently,’ Charlie has said. ‘That way you actually make it easier.’

Charlie continued to confess that at times she has thought of turning to her Garden Rescue stars for some much-needed help, saying she was planing on attempting to improve the condition of her garden, as it looked like ‘a disaster are
