As the remaining ‘Friends’ deal with their grief for Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox says she feels him watching over her

The friends may have plans for a 30th anniversary celebration…

Hearts were broken around the world last October, when actor Matthew Perry died suddenly at 54.

And while fans of the smash hit sitcom mourned the man loved as wisecracking Chandler, his co-stars were bereft at the loss of their beloved ‘Matty’ who’d long battled addiction to drink and drugs.

But now co-star Courteney Cox, who as control freak Monica finally found happiness with Chandler, has opened up on how she’s coping – revealing that she feels Matthew’s presence.

‘I sense Matthew’s around for sure… he visits me a lot,’ said Courteney, 59, during an interview on US TV, explaining that he’s not the only lost loved one she feels is watching over her. ‘I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew. I feel like there are a lot of people that, I think, guide us.’

No doubt grief over Matthew’s death remains raw for Courteney and her co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Le Blanc and David Schwimmer.

And 2024 is a very poignant year for the show’s team. April saw the 20th anniversary of the show’s end, while in September it will be 30 years since we were first introduced to the New York sextet. Recently, Courteney posted a picture from the show’s final scene, and commented:

‘It’s been 20 years since the series finale of Friends.

‘I don’t know how we were able to act through all the tears. Forever grateful,’ she added.
