Fiery Denise Welch stands her ground after (another) controversial appearance on Loose Womenprompting hundreds of complaints

The Loose Women ladies are no stranger to ruffling feathers from time to time with their brutally honest opinions on hot topics.

But long-running panellist Denise Welch found herself at the centre of a backlash after clashing with former royal press secretary Dickie Arbiter, 83, over the well-documented rift between the palace, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the chance of a possible reunion.

As Dickie slammed Harry for his interview with Oprah, writing his memoir Spare and ‘walking out’ on his duty, tensions rose.

‘Why would they NOT walk out, why would they want to spend their life in a country that hated them?’ Denise shouted, causing quite the stir as she insisted Charles had ‘ruined much of Diana’s life’, and recalling how a young Prince was forced to walk publicly behind her coffin and accept Queen Camilla as his stepmother.

‘Then he has a wife who is completely and continually trashed by the media, including your good self,’ Denise added.

‘I am just sick to death of the bashing that this woman gets [...] we continually berate this woman every day.’

Coleen Nolan attempted to defuse the tension, reminding Denise that a ‘debate’ wasn’t anticipated in the studio.

The reply was fiery: ‘I can say what I like, Coleen!’

Dickie agreed but when he later suggested she might be influenced by tabloids, she shot back ‘Don’t disrespect me.’

The fiery exchange, which resulted in Dickie telling Denise in a dignified manner that he was ‘not going to argue’ with her, resulted in 263 complaints being made to the regulatory body.
