WHEN WE FIRST went hands-on with Hidden Side earlier this year, I was hesitant. We’ve seen plenty of digital experiments come out of Billund over the past few years, but nothing seems to have stuck. After building and testing every launch wave set for this issue’s packed review section, I’m happy to hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. As you’ll quickly discover from page 36 onwards, there’s a lot to love about these supernatural sets – whether you dive into the ’hidden side’ of them or not. While the spooky in-house theme has taken pride of place on our cover, courtesy of some amazing work by photographer Phil, it’s only the tip of the iceberg in another issue packed with variety. If you’re curious about Technic’s latest game-changing control system, you'll want to flip to page 30. Or if retro bricks are more your bag, skip to page 92, where our brand new Blockstalgia section kicks off with Rock Raiders – a theme that shares its birthday with LEGO Star Wars. Or, if you’re looking for something you won’t find on store shelves, expert builder Jme has you covered with some astonishing videogame recreations from page 66. Happy reading.
