It might not feel like it, but we’ve been partying with the LEGO Friends crew for 10 years now. From enjoying a beach house, through riding roller coasters, to hitting the slopes at a ski resort, the group of mini-dolls have had many adventures in many different settings as the theme has become a mainstay. To celebrate the milestone, the LEGO Group’s Rosario Costa and Fenella Blaize Charity – two people who were there at the very beginning – reveal what it was like to come up with this entirely fresh concept, sharing stories that have never been told before. The fascinating interview is illustrated by never-before-seen design sketches, concept art and test moulds. By the time you’ve read about their creative journey, you’ll be ready to get hands-on with some bricks and we have a pretty epic build project. 10294 Titanic deserves a display base worthy of its grandeur, so this month’s Mod Squad presents just that. If you'd rather build something less sizable, there’s also a modern update of a 1981 spaceship in Blockstalgia. Enjoy the issue – and in the spirit of the theme that’s celebrating its 10th anniversary, be sure to tell a LEGO friend about it. Leg godt! Graham Hancock Editor // graham@blocksmag.com
