Feast your eyes on this round-up of tempting new bars and restaurants across Asia-Pacific

WORDS CHRIS DWYER

NEW RESTAURANTS AND BARS

After a brutal 18 months for the hospitality industry, thanks to you-know-what, it’s heartening to see new restaurants and bars continue to open across Asia Pacific, as cities and countries (hopefully) begin to turn a corner.

Whether it’s relaxed dining from Michelin-garlanded top chefs or Latin-inspired eats Down Under, diners have plenty of new options to consider when it comes to dining out and drinking. In line with the new normal, be sure to check local restrictions and protocols before venturing out. Bon appétit!

HONG KONG – RADICAL CHIC

Sitting a cool 101 floors above Hong Kong in the International Commerce Centre, Italian fine dining spot Radical Chic offers breathtaking panoramas over Victoria Harbour and beyond. The views inside are pretty spectacular, too, from contemporary art adorning the walls to the beautiful execution of the plating.

But don’t get too distracted: cuisine remains the key draw here, with dishes from Chef Andrea Tarini reflecting his Italian roots and global experience. A highlight is caponata Siciliana e gambeso, which marries two Sicilian classics: sweet-sour slow-cooked caponata (eggplant salad) complimenting the freshness of Mazara del Vallo prawns to stunning effect. The arrival of white truffle season is also the perfect excuse to taste the Innovative White Truffle Degustation menu alongside a bottle from the impressive cellar of Barolo, Barbaresco, Brunello, and many more.

SINGAPORE – CLAUDINE

French Chef Julien Royer is no stranger to industry accolades – his flagship Singapore restaurant, Odette, counts three Michelin stars and the title ‘Asia’s Best Restaurant’ among its honours. So hopes are high for his second venture, Claudine, set to open in November.

Named after Royer’s mother, Claudine is inspired by “the simple pleasures of feeding friends and family around a table”.

The menu and price point will be more accessible than fine-dining Odette, with a relaxed atmosphere that celebrates honest home cooking. Located in Singapore’s Dempsey Hill area, expect cool, elegant interiors and impeccable service.

MANILA – HUCHI

The upscale Power Plant Mall in Makati’s Rockwell Center is already home to an impressive array of eateries. The arrival of HuChi from The Moment Group adds an excellent Southeast Asian option to the mix.

Fans of pho, the beloved Vietnamese rice noodle soup, are in for a treat, with options including Pho Ga (chicken pho) infused with ginger and lemongrass, and the unus
