Meet the family behind the fantastic Trewan Hall campsite, nestling in the north Cornwall countryside

MEET THE OWNERS

Trewan Hall is a seventeenth century manor house located on the north coast between Newquay and Padstow. The coast is only four miles away, where there are sandy beaches and cliff walks. St Columb is a short walking distance away with shops and pubs. Pitches are not allocated, allowing for plenty of open space, and there are 36 acres of woods and grounds to explore. Electric is available and facilities include an outdoor swimming pool (high season only), toilets and showers, shop, launderette, games room, play area, and entertainment in high season.

Trewan Hall’s grounds offer lots of open space for a gentle stroll or to simply relax and enjoy your holiday.

We met up the family owners and asked them to tell us a little more about the site.

What is the story of your site?

Trewan Hall (originally built in 1633) was bought by Denis and Phyllis Hill in 1961. Trewan often becomes the go-to holiday for many of our guest. Once discovered it’s rarely forgotten! It’s a place where people feel safe to relax and experience a throwback to less complicated times. Rounders on the front field, 20p for the football table, storytellers and magic shows in the Long Barn, we have it all.

How does it feel to see people enjoying themselves on your site?

Good, honest fun is what Trewan was built around. Having the sounds of children playing and the waft of barbecues through the fields and woodlands is what makes it summer for me. It’s great to see so many kids make friends during their holidays, and we often hear parents under pressure to book for next year so they can all meet up again. We spend so long preparing for our campers to return and the feeling of happiness and often relief on people's faces when they get here speaks volumes.

How has the site developed over the years?

Carefully and slowly! The pool was
