Getting away from it all in your own comfortable home-from-home – that’s what makes the motorhome lifestyle so great…

THE LIFESTYLE

Elie Holiday Park, Fife, Scotland

Congratulations on making the decision to buy a motorhome. We reckon it’s one of the best purchases you’ll ever make and you’re in good company, too – there are at least 250,000 campervans and motorhomes on the road in the UK (while in the US over 11 million households own an RV). All over the globe people have discovered that motorhome holidays open up a world of opportunities and have so many benefits. Once you’ve read our top 10 reasons for taking this type of trip, you’ll never want to stay in an all-inclusive hotel or go on a cruise again!

1 Freedom

It’s a Friday night – the end of a long week. It’s looking like the weather will be good and you’ve got 48 hours with no plans. Until, that is, you remember you have a motorhome on the drive, all packed and ready to go. Just add food and clothes and head off for the weekend. In no time, you’ll be sat on your pitch with a fantastic view, glass of a favourite tipple in hand.

2 Dog-friendly

Most campsites welcome dogs and provide dedicated dog-walking areas. Taking Fido away in the motorhome saves money on kennels and means your best fr iend can be with you. Always check the rules regarding dogs on a site before you book, as there can be restrictions on certain breeds and how many you can take. Don’t forget the poo bags!

3 Exploring

In recent years we’ve all had to adapt and learn to love the area where we live but that’s just reinforced the message that you don’t need to travel far in your ’van to feel like you’ve had a break. Many owners take lots of mini-breaks throughout the year, giving them the opportunity to try lots of new places. Fancy a city break but without extortionate hotel prices? Choose a site with good public transport links and you could be heading to the bright lights but sleeping in your motorhome.

4 Cost-effective

We can’t say that a motorhome is the cheapest item you’ll ever purchase, because it definitely isn’t, but it provides the best-value holidays in the long run, especially if you use it often. Think of how much you’d spend on a two-week summer holiday and how that money could be invested in a motorhome instead. Remember that campsites are cheaper outside peak season and farm sites, CLs and CSs, and aires abroad, are cheaper still.
