Living the lambo life

Our Huracan Evo mixes with other Lamborghinis old and new at a charity fund-raising trackday at Silverstone.

A decade on, it’s Toyota’s Aston Martin

Lamborghini delivered a per-sonal-best 9233 cars throughout 2022, which is an impressive tally. But arguably more im-pressive was the Italian maker’s ability to herd more than 200 customer cars together at Sil-verstone race circuit on a chilly winter weekend.

Owners of Aventadors, Huracans, Uruses – the vast majority of these Lambos al-most new, if with a light sprin-kle of classic metal too – have been lured by the prospect of a few laps of Silverstone, the star appeal of boss Stephan Winkel-mann and the opportunity to contribute to a good cause – namely Movember, the men’s charity celebrated with mous-taches in November, but which has a year-long remit that cov-ers testicular and prostate can-cer, and also mental health and suicide prevention. Encouragingly, there’s a far more diverse mix of people – whether you’re looking at age, race, gender or profession – than at comparable McLaren and Ferrari get-togethers we’ve attended.

We introduce ourselves to two owners with enviable lifestlyes, including Bristolian Karon Hooper who is at Silver-stone in her Viola Pasifae Urus. She runs a (clearly very success-ful) electrical testing business with her Aventador SVJ-own-ing husband, who piqued her interest in the brand.
