Erin Corwin had a dream marriage with her childhood sweetheart, but not all was as it seemed…
Happily married and living the true American dream, Erin Corwin was a teen who had proved that young love was something that could work out.
After meeting her husband Jon Corwin when she was just 10, a friendship blossomed over the years in California and the pair eventually started dating when Erin turned 16, in 2011.
And in November 2012, after Jon asked permission from Erin’s parents, the couple tied the knot.
Newlywed and excited for the future, the pair then moved to a Marine base in Twentynine Palms, California, known as the home of Joshua Tree National Park, where they formed close-knit relationships with other career focused couples.
Especially Christopher Brandon Lee, 27, his wife Nicole and their six-year-old daughter.
‘When Jon and Chris were home, the couples barbequed on the grill outside their complex or watched movies and TV shows at each other’s apartment,’ another neighbour commented. ‘While their husbands were on duty, Erin and Nicole would stop by each other’s apartments for snacks and gossip.’
And with an infinite love for all animals, especially horses, with Erin having a mare of her own called RyeLeigh at a stable near her childhood home in Oak Ridge, her nurturing soul meant starting a family with Jon was on the cards.
The two couples got on very well
Settled, loved up and embarking on married life, Erin and Jon were the epitome of a perfect couple.
Only as the honeymoon period quickly came to an end, cracks started to arise in their relationship.
Reportedly arguing about finances, often accusing one another of overspending, the talks would end in screaming matches.
And after tragically experiencing a miscarriage after falling pregnant for the first time, it seemed that Jon wasn’t able to console his wife in the way that he wanted to – and the couple drifted further apart, especially with Jon working away for weeks at a time.
Only, there was someone that Erin could rely on – Christopher.
Spending more time with Christopher when both Jon and Nicole weren’t around, the pair would play video games in the bedroom, watch TV and eat dinner together, too.
