Better with age

Loving True-Life

I was looking for fun, flirting and a little financial security...

Damea Williams, 33

Looking in the mirror, I took a deep breath.

Wiping the tears from my mascara-stained cheeks, I tried to pull myself together.

I’d just gone through another painful breakup with a man who wasn’t worth my time.

At 26, I was sick of other men my age.

They were unreliable, broke and didn’t know what they wanted.

They couldn’t take care of themselves, so definitely couldn’t take care of me in the way that I knew I deserved.

And that didn’t align with my standards or values.

I needed asugar daddy

I was fed up. I just wanted someone to have fun with and to explore this beautiful world.

‘I’m done with this,’ I said to myself.

No longer was I going to waste my time on men who didn’t deserve it.

And while I didn’t want a relationship, I wanted stability.

I need a sugar daddy, a thought popped into my head.

An older man who’d seen the world and had time for me, alongside treating me like a princess was perfect.

I’d heard stories about how sugar daddies could take really good care of you and I wanted that for myself.

How would I even find a sugar daddy?

I thought, laughing out loud to myself.

So, treating the idea as a joke, I made a Facebook post.

At the very least it would make my friends laugh.

I’m looking for an older man with his life together who wants to help me become financially stable...

I wrote, listing the requirements I was looking for in a potential sugar daddy.

They had to be retired, had to have benefits and had to have lots of time for me.

Hitting the post button, I quickly put the status to the back of my mind.

I didn’t think that anyone would respond.

Are you serious? my friends wrote, laugh reacting.

Dead serious, I typed back and the next day, I noticed I had a message request.

Opening the notification, a man called James had privately messaged me in response to the post.

Hi Damea, is this where I put my application in, because I reach all your requirements plus more? he wrote.

Oh really? I typed back, quickly.

What makes you think you meet my requirements? I do, he said.

At this point I still thought it was a joke – my status was quite funny after all.

Enjoying the buzz of James’ message, I clicked on his profile and zoomed into his picture.

He was very handsome and looked like he was only in his early 50s.

Not bad at all, I thought, happily.

I value my time and I’m not here to waste any, I then told James.

Well then, let’s set up a time… he pinged back.

But we didn’t go on a date straight away.

James lived in Florida, and I was in Atlanta, Georgia.
