My parents hate my telly dream

Q I really want to apply to a well-known reality TV show but my parents are mortified by the idea.

I think it’s just a bit of fun and could even earn me a bit of extra money.

How can I persuade them to support me in this?

I don’t want their disapproval but I also don’t want to miss out on this opportunity.

A There are always shows and networks looking for the next reality TV star. If you feel like you’ve got something to offer then go for it!

So many people apply, it might not come to anything, but there’s no reason not to throw your hat into the ring.

And don’t fret about your folks. The people who love you will support you no matter what, even if they don’t really ‘get’ it.

Q I’ve worked at my job for five years and I’ve been given more and more responsibilities.

I love what I do but all the extra work hasn’t come with a new title or pay increase.

I feel like they are taking advantage. But how do I ask for more cash?

I don’t want to leave but I’m worried I’m underselling myself.
