WELL-HEALED WALL ART

If a traditional painting or a period poster isnʼt stylish enough for your walls, Petrol Vibeʼs detailed metal silhouettes might just do the trick. The company has created more than 200 different pieces, from Ferrari 288GTO via Citroën 2CV to Nissan S13 Silvia, but the sweeping shape of the Austin-Healey 3000 is one of our favourites.

Best of all, for an additional fee ($40 for the smallest size) you can have a custom piece of your own car created, so details such as a spoiler or bodykit can be included. You can also to choose from which angle your car is depicted. The pieces are available in four sizes, from 80cm (31in) at $159.95 to 140cm (55in) at $329.95. Although priced in US dollars, they are made in Europe and shipping is free worldwide.

Head rules heart

Swindon Powertrain, famous builder of so many racing engines, has released a 24-valve cylinder-head kit for the 964 and 993 911 that addresses Porscheʼs failure to fit multi-valve heads until 1997ʼs 996 model. The cast-aluminium, CNC-machined head allows a safe rev limit of 12,000rpm and saves 3.5kg. The kit is hardly cheap, at £35,940, but will surely make the ultimate air-cooled 911 engine.

Back-pedalling

Austin Pedal Cars is now selling a J40 Continuation model, the first official new Austin pedal car since 1971. With hand-formed aluminium bodies, the pedal cars are worthy successors to the famously well-built originals, although this is a thoroughly re-engineered product. The steering wheel is from Moto-Lita and Smiths provides the working gauges, while the specification includes a balanced pedal system, disc brakes, a leather seat, cord tyres, a horn, headlights, a handbrake and rack-and-pinion steering. While looking much the same as an original J40, it has more features and should be better to drive. At launch, a limited run of 49 Legacy special editions is available, at £25,000 each.

Can-Am to a Tee

RetroClassic Clothingʼs BRM T-shirts feature many of the famed V16 single-seater, but particularly exciting is the edition showing a lesser-known Can-Am entrant. It depicts the 1970 P154 in classic Castrol livery, with BRMʼs winged logo, and is available on a white, sand or grey T-shirt, from £27.60.
