Buyers’ can look forward to an intriguing mix of classics in Brightwell’s next online auction

Brightwells was still completing its catalogue as CCW went to press but a selection of British sports cars and a smattering of 1930s Austin Sevens were getting things properly underway.

Among the British contingent is a 1969 Jaguar E-type 2+2 coming from 46 years’ ownership. The vendor bought it in 1976 at 34,912 miles; today the odometer shows 70,800 miles. It has a £40-45k estimate. Also in the sale is a 1973 roadster that’s the vendor has owned for 21 years: it has a £58- 65k estimate.

A 1959 MGA Twin-Cam Roadster that received a body-off restoration in 2005-2006 and has covered 1600 miles since has an estimate of £40-45k and is joined by an older restoration estimated at £12-14k.

Adding some 1950s glitz is a 1954 Sunbeam-Talbot Alpine Special, one of around 90 built featuring engine modifications developed by ERA. A 1950 Healey Silverstone (with Wade supercharger) is estimated at £55-75k.

A 1927 Humber 9/20 tourer in need of some recommissioning is estimated at £10-12k while a 1934 Austin Seven RP salon that’s said to be ‘stunning’ has a £7-8k estimate.

Brightwells also has a 1984 Volkswagen Golf GTI: a deceased estate sale it was with its late owner for 22 years and shows fewer than 98,000 miles. A one-owner 1993 Fiat Cinquecento showing 13,251 miles is estimated at £3-4k and a 1997 Volvo 940SE estate with 170,000 miles on the cl
